The way to fix America is to COME TOGETHER stand up to Congress; not berade fellow citizens who vote for the ‘opposite party.’

It doesn’t surprise me that all sorts of people – republicans, democrats, and independents- are protesting in large numbers right now. Unemployment is skyrocketing, our country is in debt, taxes are so high we can’t survive on two jobs, children are sitting at home alone with no parents while their parents are underpaid and slaving away, education is suffering, we are sending our citizens away from their families to fight pointless wars, and big banks that fail are being bailed out by the government while small businesses are shutting down. Everyone is angry.. with good reason.

Two major movements that spawned from our anger are the Tea Party movement and the Occupy Wall Street movement. Many people would think these movements are diametrically opposed, but I think they are both expressions of what is wrong with America right now. I will be hated by people in both groups for saying this, but the only major difference I can see between the movements is that OWS wants big earners not to earn so much money and keep it for themselves while “the 99%” of people can’t make ends meet, and Tea Party wants your average wage earner to keep the money they earn and pay less taxes. (The usual Right vs. Left sentiments, as far as I can tell.) In essence, though, the movements come from the same place: the American people want more money and opportunity available to the middle and lower class, and less greed and money spent by Congress on themselves or their big dog friends.

It doesn’t surprise me that regardless of political stance, people are angry. What shocks me, though, is the animosity we have towards each other!!

I have found many bits of footage of anti-Semetic protestors at the Occupy Wall Street movement, and I am going to post some here. I want to make this clear: I’m not saying THE WHOLE MOVEMENT is anti-semetic. I am 100% Jewish and I have good friends who love me, and are not racist, who are protesting on Wall Street. I respect my friends and everything they stand for, and I even agree with most of it!!! However, I will point out that this is more credit than many people I know are willing to give Tea Party protestors.

When the Tea Party movement happened, it was widely reported that the entire Tea Party was racist. When these proclomations were made, major figures on Fox News and the right wing offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who could produce racist footage from the protests. NOT ONE PERSON came forward!! Yet still, I see facebook posts and articles claiming the Tea Party is racist. Many people who state such claims are now attending or supporting the Occupy Wall Street protests.

And ironically, it is quite easy to find examples of racism at the OWS protests. Here are a few examples:

Anti-semetism reported by a Canadian network:

Here, someone is anti-semetic and other people are telling him to shut up and stop being racist, which is awesome..

Jews running the federal banks need to be run out of this country?

Racism against white people:

More anti-semetism reported by Glenn Beck tv (I can hear the Glenn Beck haters comments already; but listen to what this guy actually says):

I can google this all day and come up with hundreds but I’m too busy trying to earn a living and make it to my doctor appointment 2 hours upstate, so these six will have to do for now.

I find it ironic that nobody actually produced this type of CLEARLY RACIST FOOTAGE from the Tea Party protests; yet it is widely believed that THE ENTIRE TEA PARTY IS RACIST. I’m still searching youtube for actual racist FOOTAGE from the Tea Party (FOOTAGE. Not networks and writers citing it). I’m not saying it didn’t happen, but if you’re willing to say the Occupy Wall Street movement isn’t made up of racist pigs, despite all the footage above, you MUST be willing to refrain from calling the Tea Party ‘a bunch of racist pigs’ or suggesting that the essence of it is racism. Even if any of you CAN produce racist footage from the Tea Party protests, you must be willing to make the same apologies you make for the few Wall Street occupiers who are racist, despite the good-natured intentions of the rest.

We need to “Come Together Right Now” as the Beatles phrased it, stop pointing fingers at each other, and act more mature than the people in Congress who are bailing out banks and spending our tax money on their vacations (ON BOTH SIDES). We must not hate on EACH OTHER for trying to make changes!

So you may wonder where I stand, in terms of the changes I want to make.

I agree that something is wrong with America, and I support the essence of both the Tea Party movement and the Occupy Wall Street movement- which, in my eyes, is that something has to change with the way the government handles money.

The quotes below come from an email that I have received more than once, from friends and family who tend to veer to the left and the right. It proposes an excellent solution for how to get our country and our jobs back.

This solution should be at the forefront of every network, and we should stop fighting and do this together:

Congressional Reform Act of 2011 _

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives
no pay when they’re out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all
Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this
contract with Congressmen/women.

Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving
in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will
only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive
the message. Don’t you think it’s time?

And if you want to know how to bring this about, here is one suggestion:

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

“I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,” he told CNBC. “You just
pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more
than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible
for re-election.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds)
took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple!
The people demanded it. That was in 1971 – before computers, e-mail,
cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year
or less to become the law of the land – all because of public pressure

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to
a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask
each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will
have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed

This solution is what people should pass around and expect networks to report. Any network who does not show this proposed solution is doing a disservice to the American people. The major news networks are promoting hatred between the American people, showing footage of stupid, racist people on ‘the opposite side of the political spectrum,’ and reporting horrible things that government employees or candidates have done or said, so that we end up thinking ANYONE who votes for them is a complete idiot, and turning against each other.

The networks are right about one thing – there are two sides, and the sides are black and white. One side is US and one side is THEM. I am referring to US: We, The People vs. THEM: Congress, and their lapdogs. The notion that the problem spawns from Democrats vs. Republicans, and the idiots who vote for the side that we personally don’t vote for, is completely misguided and THAT is what is tearing the country apart.

The Occupy Wall Street movement, along with the Tea Party Movement, are both dangerous to the current government and the news networks who aren’t reporting the truth. However, since CNN and NBC are in the pocket of the Left Wing, and Fox is in the pocket of the right wing, they each chose a protest to report terrible things about, to make the protestors and people look bad.

WE MUST THINK FOR OURSELVES! One way to do this, if we must obtain information from networks, is to watch BBC, NBC, CNN and FOX and keep our minds open… seek truth by obtaining as much conflicting information as possible and piecing facts together ourselves, rather than hating Fox alone, or watching Fox but hating the other networks!!

If you hate Fox news specifically, keep in mind that Fox news is the only network which reported that the staffers of Congress’ family members are exempt from having to pay back student loans. This would get national attention if other news networks would broadcast it.

We should all send this proposition for a Congressional Reform Act to any network we believe in, or any network in which we have connections; and the more demand there is, the more likely it is that the networks will be forced to show it. But the key is, we must stop the hate and work together.

I took the time out of my very busy schedule to write this blog because I feel sickened by the animosity between the American people, and I think there is a good solution that would make us all happy, and the only way to make it happen is to THINK, and not believe the hateful propaganda that is presented to us about the people on the “other side.” Most of the people I know, who will read this, WANT to do what’s right, and don’t want the poor to suffer, and want health care available for all, and equal rights for LGBTs and women, and lower taxes, affordable housing, less war but adequate defense, etc. We may argue about this candidate or that candidate, but hating each other over these petty differences will not accomplish anything. All republicans are not war mongering racist sexist rich white people, and all democrats are not stupid long-haired smelly unemployed hippies feeding off the government. End of story – most of us are good people who want to do what’s right!!!! We must stop putting each other down, pressure the networks to report things news which will actually bring us together so we can fight for change, and lose our absurd animosity towards our fellow citizen which has no real basis.
